I love teaching drums!

If you want to learn to play the drums, I’d love to teach you! If you already know how to play the drums, I’d love teach you how to take your playing to the next level!

My drum lessons are designed around you, to meet your drumming desires and goals. I’ve been teaching drums for over 20 years, and I’ve taught students of all ages and abilities.

Most of my lessons are for 30 minutes, once a week; payment is on a monthly basis.

In our drum lessons, we focus on a variety of things; our primary focus is the fundamentals of rhythm and drumming technique. In drum set lessons, I focus on coordination, playing grooves and fills, and playing along with recorded music. Many of my students are in middle and high school band. I teach them how to read music, play snare drum, and play mallet percussion such as orchestra bells and xylophone. I also teach hand drums like conga and cajon.

Teaching is a passion for me. But I also love to play! I played drums in middle and high school, and I studied percussion at Shenandoah University. I’ve played in touring rock bands and at most Richmond-area music theaters. I have also played the vibes in a jazz group and the steel drum in a calypso band. Currently, I am the drummer and percussionist for Susan Greenbaum, and I am a substitute drummer at West End Assembly of God Church.

I teach both online and in-person lessons.

My studio is located at 401 North Parham Road, in West End Assembly of God Church. I am one of several music teachers there. We have plenty of parking and comfortable waiting areas!

Please contact me for more information. I’d love to help you learn to play the drums! And don’t forget to ask about a free trial lesson!
